I would say they did something wrong with only 60 miles on the install.

From all of what you have been saying, it sounds as if Speed Inc. did all of your installations for you. Personally, I think it would be very difficult to prove that poor installations is the cause of your problems. Of course they will try to say that user negligence is what damaged the motor, ie: you taking your car out to test out the new heads and cam.

If you really want to go after Speed Inc, after you remove the motor you may have to have a professional, or even Speed Inc themselves dismantle the motor to determine if something was in fact installed incorrectly. Luckily, your problem is one in which something was installed incorrectly, and correct installation of part will yeild a funcional engine. If the damage is permanent, well, Speed Inc owes you for the engine and some healthy discounts to go along with it.

Unfortunatly, if the problem was debris in the engine that got into a bearing, even if the debris entered the engine during the installation, you got nothing. You won't be able to prove Speed Inc is at fault for that.

Just some thoughts. Tough break man. Good luck

I feel for ya stick. I'm having a similar problem with $1000 I dumped into a clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel that melted together under 2000 miles of use. You definitely need to have a come to Jesus talk with Speed Inc. If they're not willing to readily admit it is their fault, take it to someone else to have inspected and go from there.

Let me say a few things here before i close this thread.. these types of threads only lead to vendor bashing and accomplish nothing. In the past it's kept vendors from even "helping" the customer out when it was their fault..

So saying that...

What I do know is that Speed Inc. has done countless LS1 head cams and in fact a local guy here called to make an appointment about a week ago and couldnt get in till i think they said June? They must be doing something right to be that busy with people wanting to get work done.

You don't know that it was their fault. It might have been something you did.. then again it might not be either one of you, and it could have been just some random thing that went wrong.. maybe your oil pump started going and that caused your problem.. you do have a 98.. It happened to me..

What your going to have to do is make an appointment to have them pull it apart and take a look.. and if its something they did im sure they will take care of it...

Odds are if they dont find anything obvious they will NOT give you a motor and discounts... If you have dealt with a performance shop you should know.. this does not happen.

Most likely what will happen is your going to have to put up the cash to get it fixed.. Im sure as long as your not an *** about it to them they will give you some sort of discount, be it on parts or labor or something.. This is standard practice with a "good" shop.

Remember, Racing parts are not warrenteed unless there is a manifacturing problem with a casting.. and even then some companies still wont do anything for you (ie. ford racing). Warrenty's are voided by racing.. Yes even if you have a speed shop build you a race car.. It doesnt help you post in the Kill stories of a BB they read. And arent you 18 or 19 or something?
Most places understand you are racing the car and will "help" you if something breaks.. NEVER expect to get something for free.. Unless its obvious they did something wrong.

Good luck, and give Speed Inc a chance to help you out before you demand something your not entitled to.
