Re: spark plug question...

- The gap for stock plugs should be .055" I believe.
- The original plugs are AC Delcos.
- for a replacement, get NGK TR55's (iridium IX's if you're feeling rich)
- it will make it easier doing the passenger's side to pull the air tube off the manifold
- yes, get #8 from underneath
- glad you're out of the 'Stang phase and into a real performance car!!

Re: spark plug question...

Check out http://www.installuniversity.com/ins...sity/index.htm click on Install Documents and scroll down to the Engine section, there should be a link to spark plug and wire change. It's a good write up, I used it when I changed mine. Yeah the passanger side is a pain especially #8, go from the top, remove the AIR tube, kneel on your car battery to reach the 8th plug with an spark plug socket and a 1" extention. I tried getting it from the bottom but the stock manifolds got in the way. With headers I've heard it's much easier from the bottom. Good luck. After you're done you'll be glad you didn't take it to a shop where they would have charged you $300+

Re: spark plug question...

Changed mine from the top in 2.5 hours last weekend (NGK TR55's gapped at .055). Remove the AIR tubes and the passenger side coil packs. Then you should be good to go. We would have been done in less than 2 hours, but a friend stopped by to chat and we started to disconnect my AIR system.

Re: spark plug question...

Nothing wrong w/ Stangs!.. . Saw a NICE one today... Dragged out, 2500lbs!

Anyway.. Yeah, have fun w/ the plugs. There's scads of room from underneath, compared to up top... It might be easier on cuts and bruises if you took the coil packs out of the way, and the EGR/ AIR stuff.

Re: spark plug question...

Remove the coil packs when you change them and you can reach from the top. When you put them back, just leave off the hard to reach back bolts. Headers help too.
