Which SFC's to buy?
I've been given SFC's as a present, only thing I have to do is pick out which ones I want. I know that there are 20 differnt companies that make them, and most of them are of similar design, but which ones are of resonable price, and provide the most strenghtening to the chasis? Any suggestions would be great, especially if you have first hand experiance.

i personally am a BIG FAN of the Kenny Brown DD's.. But other then that, the BMR's seem to be very popular.
www.ls1speed.com has both brands...you can see the pics of how they look... Great guys to deal with also.. |
I have the Double Diamond bolt-ins from Spectacle Solutions and love them. He'll give you a package deal if you get a STB at the same time.
www.SpectacleSolutions.com He does great work. The SFCs are powdercoated in your color choice (most people get Black) and has an added feature that allows you to still use the factory jack on the rear (something I don't think you can do with the SLP design) |
I have the SLP bolt ons, and love them, very good fit, and well finished.
SteveC :) |
don't use bolt ons, the bolt holes will stretch and basically render the SFC useless. also, double diamonds have been proven time and time again to be overkill unless you are a VERY serious auto-x racer.

Sorry to disagree, but there is nothing wrong with bolt-on's. The holes will not elongate over time, the bolts will not back out over time, they are just as good as weld-in's and they can be installed yourself rather than taking it to a shop. Plus, they can be removed if needed.
As for DD being overkill, yeah, they probably are, but if you can get a good price on them, why not get them? |
I will stick to my BMR tubulars. For no more than I do in my car they work great and cost a lot less.

are there any tests that shows that bolt-on SFCs are just as good as welded on?
kind of hard to believe this. i'm trying to chose a set myself. the Double Diamond price on the strut tower brace is really good! ($60) |
Only test I've done is the "butt-o-meter" test.
One one of the winding road runs that I drive when I need a rush, there are a few turns that I used to take at 50 - 60 that I now take at 70 - 80. The car corners like it's on frikkin' rails, and all squeaks and rattles immediately disappeared. All with bolt-in DD SFC and STB from Spectacle |
i've had welded on SFCs on all 3 of my Mustangs and never drove one with bolted on SFC. the general consensus from Fox body owners is that bolted-on SFCs don't work well or at all on our cars.
still very uncertain as to what to get for my LS1. |

BMR tubulars SFC's are what I would go with ;)

i have bmr tubular and they are great
go with BMR TUBULAR:D |
