Running lean...
Hi.
In the last couple of months I started experiencing a decrease in the throttle response on my car, most noticeable at low RPM. So I brought it to the dyno yesterday. The peak HP results were pretty good (295). But it showed a steady 14.8 air/fuel ratio at all RPM (according to the dyno guy it should be in the 12s). Aside from some suspension mods, the car is stock. I still have about 4K miles left on my warranty, so my question is: If I bring the car to the dealers, can they do something about that? And if they can, what are the chances of qualifying as a warranty repair? Thanks Ivo ------------------ Red 2000 Z28, A4, T-tops. BMR STB, SLP SFC, V1, Potenza RE 730 |
Is it showing any SES lights ?
I could see them looking for codes for you, but I don't know what it would take to convince them the 'puter is not all what it is supposed to be !! http://web.camaross.com/bb/eek.gif Do you have access to anyone w/ Autotap that can help you shadetree diagnose it ?? Or, maybe you could play w/ a HPP3 while on the dyno to see if anything changes ? Keep us informed - in the meantime, this will bump it To The Top !! http://web.camaross.com/bb/wink.gif Britt ------------------ '99 T/A Best 13.071 @ 104.92 Now own '99 SS # 2073 ! 12.969 @ 105.44 |
That's my concern. I don't have the SES, and they can just say "there is no SES -> there is nothing wrong with it!"...

If your car is stock then it should be at 14.7 F/A whenever it is in closed loop. That's what the computer regulates your ignition and timing to achieve for minimum emissions and best economy. The dyno guy sounds pretty clueless to me.
