Rotors

My rotors are warped, and I want to get new ones. Ones that are better than stock. What do you reccomend, and what are the prices. I found some slooted and drilled on ebay for about 199 for 4. I am not sure if they are for a v6 or SS. I think they might be for both but I want some really good ones! Thanks

One thing that I have found is that speed.inc will have better prices for new stuff over anything I have ever seen on ebay. look at www.ls1speed.com and go to the brakes section and then compare those prices with the ones you find on ebay. When time comes for my new rotors, which will be soon, I already cut the stock ones over 3 times and their 4 years old. I would look at the power slot ones which will fit on the stock calipers. Those seem pretty resonable.

Just get some rotors from autozone. The are about $38 a piece and people have been pleased with them. They are definitly of much better quality than the stock rotors.

After my OEM rotors warped twice in 16k miles I went with the autozone front rotors with Hawk Street pads. Major improvement in braking performance. A/Z rotors are only $38 and the Hawks are about $80 from Tirerack. That was 11k miles ago and I couldn't be happier.

I too am going with Autozone...

Slotted = faster brake pad wear

Drilled = well, I have no need for it since I cant find time to get to the autox track..

So $80 for rotors and another $40 for pads.. I should be all good to go..

Another vote for the AutoZone rotors.

I run the AutoZone rotors with Raybestos ceramic pads. No noise, no dust.

Thumbs up

Unless you are doing some serious racing where brakes are boing used heabily, there is no really need for slotted or drilled rotors.

Another vote for AZ rotors. Been using them in every vehicle I've owned the last few years.

...Just incase, once you put on new rotors, how many times can you cut them before they get to be real bad at warping really soon?

I bought brand new rotors from AutoZone last month and the first day I had them on, I had to take them back and have them turned.

did ya properly torque the lug nuts?

did you buy the front or rear rotors?

Because my last pair of front rotors were warped the first time around, but that was because I improperly torqued them in. I bought a torque wrench, then replaced the warped rotors, with new ones, thanks to my 90 day warranty. Haven't had a problem since, and I beat on the brakes quite a bit. I just have to replace the rear rotors.

I don't really know. I drove less than a mile down the road and could tell something wasn't right.

They were front.

I ended up taking them to another shop and they turned them. Haven't had a problem since.
