right direction?

im new to the forum but had my z28 2 years now just never threw any major money into it. lately ive been buying parts to be thrown in all at once to cut costs. before i finalize my shopping list, i just wanted your 2 cents on: have my stock heads ported or just buy stage two heads? local shops want $1200+ to port three angle valve job.

i buying mac headers with orp, and simms, do i need the extensions?

im also looking for the ssra, roller rockers and a bigger cam which im still researching, maybe t-rex? custom exhaust from the orp back with a flow master muffler, keeping my e-cutout. anything wrong or mismatched with the above combo before i empty my pocket?

Re: right direction?

If you can swing it get the AFR heads or some from a reputable shop or vendor.

Re: right direction?

Not so sure you would wanna go with a T-Rex cam being an automatic car and all. I have heard that the cam is almost to big to be streetable. Ask around about it.

AFR heads are a true aftermarket head developed and produced by AFR, they are not a stock LS1 ported and polished head. Very good heads, just a bit pricey for some at about $2200.00 shipped.
Lots of options for cylinder heads- FFHP for example

The T-Rex cam will not work with aftermarket heads without flycutting the pistons and is considered by some to be not a good daily driver cam as it is quite thumppy. It is all a matter of preference.
