Unhappy This really sucks....

Just finished my cam install after I had to replace my valves. My car was running like *** cuz i had bent valves. So now with new valves, pushrods, springs, retainers and a new cam, my car still has a blinking SES light and I have no idea why...crappy thing is now I have to go pay $45 for a mechanic to hook up a real scanner and tell me which cylinders are misfiring and how bad. Hopefully its not as bad as before my valve change...he tested it and 5100 was my worst misfire.

The car runs nowhere near as bad as it did before I changed all this stuff, but the engine still vibrates a good bit. The car doesnt really stumble or anything either. Could it be a coil or a pulg wire?

Autozone will scan your computer for free. I figured that out shortly after paying $75 just to find out my headers were setting the SES light.

how big is the cam?
the blinking SES light is due to a random misfire(probably)
check your plugs and wires also.

Autozone can only tell you what code you are throwing. I already know its a P0300 code, but I just want to know where.

The cam is a 224/224 .563/.563 112 LSA. I changed the plugs, but didnt get new wires. Thats the next thing I am going to replace. I can go from first to second and all the way through third without the light blinking, but once I get to 4th then it starts blinking. It doesnt surge or sputter or anything until I get to 6th gear and am going under 70 mph. In which its barely noticeable, minus the shifter shaking more than normal.

OK well i was wrong...The only code its throwing is a P0304, #4 cylinder misfire. Hopefully its just a wire or plug (even though the plugs are new) at the very worst a coil pack.

That cam is just a little bigger than mine. Mine is very streetable so i dont hting a 228 would be that much worse. More power for sure though. I need a tune.

Who tuned the car after the cam? I take it you mis-shifted 2-1 or 3-2 right; that is how you bent your valves? You should have just got a set of heads from Patriot instead of rebuilding your existing stock ones.

It hasnt been tuned. And the heads were ok. the valves were just slightly bent...and i didnt miss a shift...the guy i bought the car from did. I figured he could drive it...ya know since he used to own it. I told him to take it for a run down the track and he f*cked it up.
