Re-Useable Filter vs Paper Filter
Re: Re-Useable Filter vs Paper Filter
The K&N leaks. It comes with a rubber gasket.
It is designed for a Jeep application.
I used to have one before I purchased the Blackwing
Lid and it's associated paper element filter.
The Blackwing Lid and filter make more power. I can
feel it...
Good luck,
Jim

Re: Re-Useable Filter vs Paper Filter
Well right now I am running the SLP/Donaldson Blackwing lid with a Donaldson Blackwing Synthetic re-useable filter.
So do high flow filters help or hurt performance?

Re: Re-Useable Filter vs Paper Filter
Trade-off between flow and filtering. Oiling the media properly catches more debris, and the dirtier the media gets the more it traps - but since the media is dirtier, it also hinders flow the longer you let it go.
I used K&N for 5-6 years, but I switched to a Fram paper filter. What I find curious is that those K&N displays don't use an oiled media like you would in the real world.

Re: Re-Useable Filter vs Paper Filter
To be 100% honest, I wouldn't have a K&N on my car if it didn't come on the car from the previous owner. Since GM is voiding warranty work in some cases if you use oiled filters, on certain parts. I plan to go back to paper once it comes time to clean the K&N. I am not going to risk future issues if I don't have to.
