Quick Question
Hello, I am new to the forums and about to buy my first f-body. I am not very knowledgeable <(spelling?) about f-body's as of yet. One question has plagued me, Mustangs seems so much louder and meaner than ls1's, lt1's. The Ls1 is a 5.7 compared to a 5.0 or 4.6. I don't know if the engine capacity is relevant at all. Maybe the exhausts are better for mustangs? Once again im not too bright as of yet and any help would be appreciated. :D

Mustangs use a true dual setup as to f-bodies, we have a y-pipe, which some people on here have true dual exhaust done to theirs. Hope that helps

Mustangs sound hollow IMO, I don't care for their sound too much. Even with a y-pipe, an LS1 or LT1 sounds 1000x meaner then a Stang. You outta hear mine w/ the cutout opened :)

Or it could be the fact that a great deal of mustangs are running an OFF-ROAD H pipe or X pipe without cats, and this along with true duals is a loud result. I would take the sound of any F-body LT1 or LS1 over a stang anyday.

The reason why is:
the 5.0 and 4.6 use a different firing order and have a different style of exhaust. |
loudmouth
Do you guys think a Mustang 4.6 sounds better than ls1 with a loudmouth or dynomouth....I had a 98 stang with bassani x-pipe and flowmaster 2 chambers and I tell you....I personally think a ls1 with the loudmouth or dynomouth sounds alot more bada$$ then does a stang....Just my personal opition.

Actually the difference in sound is because 1 engine is built with aluminum and the other is steel or something like that. 2 different materials, 2 different sounds.
Flowmaster systems sound great on Mustangs, but suck on F-bodies, at least in my opinion, I am sure there are a ton of happy F-body people who have flowmaster |
I love the sound of my C5 but just yesterday i heard an 03 Cobra with LT's and magnaflow mufflers... I almost **** my pants. Sounds wicked.
