Power Steering Draining.

Where do you drain the power steering fluid? My pump is making a weird noise after replacing the high pressure line. I think the fluid is crap, has contaimints or somewhere I have a clog.

I tried the Hanes manual and it's useless.

perhaps you didn't bleed it properly. Hopefully you didn't mess it up if you didn't because the Chilton manual states that it's very important.

Raise the front wheels off the ground.
With the engine off, turn the wheel to the left and right locks repeatedly at least 20 times. Be sure to keep an eye on the fluid as it the level shouldn't drop.
There should be no air bubbles in the previous step. If so, there is a leak in the system that must be replaced.

After that, start the engine and let it idle for 2 minutes. Straighten the wheels and lower the car back to the ground.
Keep the engine running for 2 minutes, then turn the wheel in both directions.

Here's a page from the Power Steering bleeding page in my Clinton manual: http://www.stumper66.com/ps.jpg

Thanks for the info. I had a shop do it for me and I didn't see when he bleed it. I can't recall hearing the noise when I left but a two days later I definitely heard it. I hoping flushing it and bleeding over helps.
