Lightbulb Ok, I need some help-00 OR 01?

Currently I am in the market for an LS1 SS. I have a deliema though!

Is it better to get the 01 with a smaller cam and the LS6 intake, or the 00 w/ a larger cam and a LS1 intake? They are both rated @ 325?

Why does everyone go nuts when people talk about an LS6 intake with no EGR?

I plan on installing a supercharger, if that helps.

The LS1 is not ideal for a supercharger. LT1 is a bit more suited to that or a Mustang. lol The 325HP ratings are BS. Plain and simple. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Chevy severely underrates these cars to make our insurance cheaper. Now listen carefully...if you have the choice...

GET THE '01 CAR

It will be faster.

Thanks Josh! Yeah, Im really thinking hard about the supercharger thing. I probably would not have money for a rebuild if the pistons going flying out of the block.

The thing is that I found an 00 and 01 that are the same color, mileage, etc, but sadly the 01 is an auto, and I do not want to do auto again. I guess I will have 2 keep looking.

Well, if you forge up the engine first and be careful how much boost you're running you can do it without much worry. But you've got to be really careful. On the cheating side...the LS1 LOVES N2O. If you want major power and would like to hit 11s mostly stock, get some happy gas and an '01-'02 car.

Dude, I'd get the '01, auto or no. Just make sure it has 3.23 gears. The 2.73s suck. If it's an SS, it should have 3.23s.

I vote for the 01 too. I was in a hurry to buy my car so I took the 00 without doing enough research.. and although I love my car.. I do regret not getting the 01 model. I will have to fork out around 500 bucks to get the LS6 intake and another couple hundred upgrading the hydraulics when I get another clutch.

Get the 01 model.. take your time.. find a m6.. and buy it! You will not regret the choice.

Cool guys.

NOW- what is with this LS6 intake?? What is so good about it?

Josh-What kind of spray kits do you recomend for the LS1? I do not want anything with 1/2 *** wiring. That is why I planned on getting a charger.

So, a 01 a 00! I get it!

LS6 intake is just the intake from the Corvette Z06's LS6 engine. The difference between the LS1 and LS6 intake...15-20RWHP. I'll leave it at that.

Any of the big name N2O kits seem to be holding up fine. NOS, TNT or NX.

No, no, no, an '01 will NOT "own" an '00.
'00 base SS rated at 320. '01 base SS rated at 325. (Like said above, both #'s are very conservative)
On a stock LS1, the LS6 intake will NOT get you 15 - 20 hp.
Sure, given the choice between 2 otherwise identical cars, you should pick the '01. Newer, slightly better clutch.
But if you don't really want an A4, don't pick an '01 A4 over an '00 M6. You won't be happy with it.
Bottom line, the 2 cars are very similar. Buy the one that has the options you want, and/or that's in the best condition, and/or that's got the fewest miles.
