Post Oh no......

....well, I just bought a 2000 SS from a dealership. This is my first computerized fuel injected car. The first day, I was driving it around and I absolutely loved the car. The next day....the damn SES light comes on. Also, the Oil Change light comes on for about a minute when I first run the car. Even with the light on, everything seems fine. Idles fine, accelerates fine, no strange noises. Should I be worried? I think it's goin' back to the dealer Monday.

BTW, I did get the oil changed anyway.

The SES light only means that there is an emissions related problem, not a major mechanical problem, and it could be as simple as a bad batch of gas (i.e. if the gas in the tank has been there for 4 months while the car sat on the lot), a loose gas cap, etc... Not serious, but should have the dealer look at it.

95% of the time the SES light coming on is something very very minor.

you have to clear the oil change light manually even if you cahnge the oil. the steps are in your owner's handbook. but basically just turn the ignition on WITHOUT starting the car, push in and hold the trip milage odometer reset button until the oil change light goes off and you are good to go. the SES light is probably due to something like what has been said already.
