noise from a shift knob?!?!

i just got a b&m short shifter installed and it is working fine. but with the shift knob on the normal noises from the trany get 10 times louder. i have tryed the stock ball shift knob and the short leather knob from b&m. btw it sounds just like stock with no knob. so if anyone had the same problem problem let me know if you have any ideas.

ps: turning up the radio is not a fix. :p

All aftermarket shifters will have an increase in noise. There's nothing wrong with your shifter. If I remember correctly (its been a couple years since I switched out my stock shifter for a ripper)...the stock has a rubber grommet that helps eliminate the noise. Aftermarket shifters do not. I haven't noticed mine really (then again..when I start the engine people think the world is coming to an end...haha). My car is too loud for me to hear any shifter noise.

I've got the Pro 5.0. Love the feel, hate the noise. At one point I had cut some mousepads to fit around the shifter to dampen noise... worked well and you could barely hear it. I can't hear anything when I've got music playing. As of right now I'm looking to find some sort of insulation that will dampen the noise completely.
