New Engine

I have a 99 t/a but I have a chance to get a motor out of a 2001 t/a I know it will work but what kind if any problems will I have with the ecm?

why would you want to change your engine? it is pretty much no different. yes there are a few differences, but it would be a waste of time and money IMHO. and yes i think you would have trouble with the computer because there is no egr on 01+ f-bods.

why? well the one thats in the car has 85,000 miles and the other only 18,000 reason enough for me.

how were those 18,500 driven though? if they were raced then thats worse than your 85k

unless your 85000 were raced....find out as much as you can about the car before you do it. the guy that i bought my car from raced it...he used nos and everything...my car had 54000 when i bought it and drove like a champ.

yes I know what you mean there and a lot of the milage this car has, has been run hard thats the reason I want to switch to a another engine.And also if the newer engine has a little more power before I start modding it will help to.

Just a waste of time and money.
If there is nothing wrong with the engine in there and it has good oil pressure. It could easily run another 100,000 miles. If you want to hedge your bet? Then get the newer motor and mothball it until you need it.
