MTI Lid

$99 for the regular black lid, and $129 for the clear (or) Carbon Fiber one. Is it a pain in the butt to keep the clear one looking good? Do you have to take it off and clean it all the time? Should I just keep the stock filter on it? The K&N is $50 and I hear it doesn't do anything. OR..... Fbody Motorsports sells an SLP cold air induction package for $185. What's the best thing to get? Just a lid, or the whole package? Any help would be appreciated.

One I would get the black lid, and the K&N filter supposedly does work pretty well. The package sounds good because you would probably buy all the stuff eventually.

First off, K/n is a hell of a difference compared to a clogged paper filter, and the lid is great too, no need for clear, unless u want looks. I think lid filter and ported MAF might net you 7-10 rwhp. worthwhile mod when you start doin serious stuff so you can get more air.

I went ahead and got the clear lid from MTI back when I was shopping around. After all the research I did, I decided to go with a Holley filter though, because I've heard of some people that had trouble with the fitiment with K&Ns.

As far as keeping it clean, it's not bad at all. Just make sure to get some Mother's Plastic polish, and hit the lid whenever you wax your car. It takes a few minutes for each coat, and I do 3 coats. It looks great after that.

What about this SLP "Flow Pac"? They are claiming 25HP gain over stock.

I have the clear lid myself. I've never had to take it off and clean it, it never seems to get dirty. It might get a little dusty sometimes but a dry/damp rag will take care of that. I have pics in my sig if you want to see it on a car.

DId you go full CAI, or just the lid and filter? I'm wondering if it would be worth it to also get the CAI kit while I'm at it. I'm sold on the clear lid, it looks great on your cars.

I'm assuming you mean the Super Sucker Ram-Air or Fast Toys Ram Air kits? You can't technically have a lid and a CAI. You can however have either one of the ram-air kits and a lid.

As for myself I just have the lid and filter. I have a ram-air hood, I never saw the purpose in getting a ram-air kit added on.

There's no way I'd pay $115 for that. Check out the Super Sucker Ram Air kit or the Fast Toys Ram Air. They are much more effective than that kit is and the SSRA is made of plastic so it doesn't obsorb heat like that metal kit will.

OMG. .K&N is not better than a paper filter..

want more power? get a lid and keep the stock paper filter..

Want for filtration? Get any aftermarket rechargeable filter and a lid.

I have both an Amsoil and K&N filter sitting in a bag thats in a box in my garage.. under the Lid.. I wont use them... if I use any of them it will be the lid.. but thats not for quite some time..

Wanna use simple logic? K&N does what more? FILTER.. if you restrict airflow can you flow more air?

Mine has proven itself to me numerous times on the dyno.. I now have 35K miles on my paper filter.. I will be getting a new one soon but my point is that its still kicking ****!

K&N lost me 3rwhp over and over.. I even lost some mpg on a road trip test I did.. Same with the Amsoil filter.. and would ya believe... .NO FILTER! No Filter was bad too and I wasnt expecting that..

Just get a lid and be done with it..

about 8rwhp...

How could having NO FILTER produce less HP than with a filter? I don't understand that. So, using that theory, the K&N would produce more HP because it flows better. That doesn't make any sense at all.

K&N does not flow better. .not in the least.. it does filter better.. which is more restriction..

the no filter I think is a result of turbulant air.. didnt have any resistance to smooth it out..
