LT1 cam swap Vs. LS1 cam swap??
Im wondering how u guys feel about LS1 cam swaps and the difficulty of it. I currently have a 97 LT1 car and am VERY interested in getting an LS1 car in the future. Now i've done a cam swap in my car and all other things listed in my sig along with a head gasket repair. For those of you who have had/have both, is the cam swap difficulty an different of the LS1 cars? I've heard (from a few friends who work at GM dealerships) that things like the oil pan have to be lined up with the block with some special tool or something like that, is any of this accurate? Also with the the LS1 head design is it any easier to change plugs and things like that?

Its not hard at all. And why did they say u have to even touch the oil pan. There is no need to even look at the oil pan let alone align it with the block
I did my cam swap with the help of my friend. It took us 15-20 hours over 3 days to finish it and i never worked on a car before. This link helped me alot http://www.ls1howto.com/index.php?article=23 Good luck. |

LS1 cam swaps aren't bad at all! Me and 4 people did two swaps simultaneously in about 9 hours on two LS1 cars. We were out rippin on em that very night. ;)
