Re: LS6 intake vs. LSX

GM High Perf (or whatever that magazine is called) did a test on a 400hp LS1

they picked up about 7hp with the ls6, 8hp with the lsx. not sure what the torque was, but it was similar.

so for the 2x cost the lsx isn't really much of an advantage on most engines.

stick with the ls6

Re: LS6 intake vs. LSX

Here are the numbers thaqt CHP posted. LS6 425.5 Peak HP @4700 & 421 TQ @5700
LSX 426.2 HP @4800 & 427 TQ @5800. It had a nice little gain of TQ. I think it would show it's advantage on high HP, high cube engines.

Re: LS6 intake vs. LSX

thanks for the numbers...

but realistically...that engine was already putting out 420hp...so it would be equivalent to the majority of LS1 cars out there.

but i agree, on a nasty 396 or 400+ ci engine the LSx would probably shine...at least enough to warrent the $800 some-odd cost

Re: LS6 intake vs. LSX

actually, a lot of aftermarket builders putting out 7.0L(427) and 383/396 cars simply use the LS-6. It's an amazing manifold for the price, and very versatile. usually the ls-x is an option with these packages... the one cool thing about the LS-X manifold is the built-in nitrous injection fitting.
Direct port= sweeeeeet.

I think that the people that make the LSX intake need to wake up and realize that its not worth it.

I thought the whole purpose of the LSX was the ability to take it apart and port it easily since it is two pieces....
