All 01-02 Ls1's came with the LS6 intake. Some later model 02's came with the LS6 block though.

Is this good and how can I tell?

Re: LS6 Intake Manifold on late 2002's
Yes this is good. The LS6 makes more power and has no egr. If you look at the intake, right behind the throttle body, it will either be smooth or it will have some emissions stuff (egr?). If it is smooth it's an LS6.

But I wouldn't go looking for it either. It'll gain you nothing power wise and by the time a stronger block is needed you've all ready replaced it with a 402, 408 or 427 anyway  |
Re: LS6 Intake Manifold on late 2002's
Here's an article on teh development of the LS6, most of the improvements to the LS1 came as a result of common parts developed for the LS6. Here's how to tell if you've got an 'LS6' block, these became the standard block for LS1 and LS6 in 2003, but were fed in gradually from late '01 and appeared in LS1 builds I guess as overspill. Nice to have, but not worth getting if you don't. I found a quote from John Juriga a few years ago saying that the reduction in parasitic loss was worth a couple of hp, but the change was made mostly to avoid oil whipping and starvation from failure to flow back. Can't find it now.

Can anyone confirm that the 02 F-car also had the larger LS6 MAF/TB combo?
Is this true? |
Negative. The 02's and 01's were identical for LS6 intake and 78MM throttle body.
Here is a real good breakdown of the differences between the years: http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showpo...80&postcount=2 |

I hope so for you. My A4 gave out right away and the rear gear gave out within 5000 miles

Are the '00 motors good compared to the differences in '01's? Because I'm looking at buying a '00 Camaro SS or a '01 TA WS6, and I can't decide which one to buy.

Buy which ever you get the better deal on. Once you mod it won't matter.

How about if I was planning on keeping it stock?
