Yes, I used the stock LS1 computer that came with the Engine. It’s my understanding that any Gen 3 ls engine computer will work. You will just need to have it tuned correctly to run the LS1 if the computer comes out of a 5.3 or 6.0 truck.

Re: LS1 into 96 LT1 Chassis

Just wanted to put an update on the ole Camaro since it has been a while.
I have since done the Manuel t56 swap into my car as I had the 4l60 rebuilt 2 times since the LS swap. I was able to get all the parts that I needed basically for free because of the deal I had found while browsing Facebook marketplace.
I found a great deal on two Camaros without titles for $900. One of them was a 94 t56 car. And the other was as 97. After taking all of the t56 parts out(peddles, trans) I parted out the cars and made enough money to cover the $900 and enough to rebuild the transmission by RPM performance. I also got a genuine SS spoiler from one of the cars!

RPM built the transmission and modified it to a LS1 t56. They changed the input shaft, and mid plate. They were great to work with and very knowledgeable. The trans looked brand new when I got it back!

I bought a new LS7 clutch ram clutch and a new slave and master cylinder.

everything went together well and I had no major issues other than finding out that the peddles from the 94 did not have enough throw to get the slave to engage. (That took me forever to figure out)

overall the car is running good and I have been having a blast driving the manual instead of the auto. I won’t win many races but I’ll definitely be smiling!lol

This is awesome, Andrew. I'm in the middle of "parts collecting" for my swap and your info is proving to be very useful.

I do have a question: I'm assuming this was originally an automatic car. When you swapped out the trans for T56, did you have a template or something to guide you when cutting the floor for the shifter?

Thanks,

Mike
