LS1 in a 97'?

Is it possible to put a LS1 into a 1997 z28?

With enough time, money and resources many things are possible. Whether it is worth it, that's another issue altogether... ;)

It is possible, i know of people putting the ls1 in 97 v6 camaros so im sure you can do it but with some work.

Buffdaddy 01-04-2004 10:43 AM

It would be time consuming, just buy an ls1 and save the stress and headaches;)

I would just go out and buy another car but i already have the motor...plus i love the z28 i have. I have already put a lot of work into it and i want to make it faster. but thatnks for the info:)

Look at their Project cars. This might be a good place to contact about what is needed

why spend that much when you can build a superior engine? youll just backtrack, then when you mod the LS1 youll be right where you couldve been to begin with only you spent more to get there. If you want an LS1 that bad, just buy a different car it would make things A LOT easier for you. For $2500 you can just buy a smog legal supercharger and make more power than the cost of a stock LS1 engine itself.

That is what I was thinking, just buy a supercharger because it would probably be the same cost and even if it is more it should not be too much more but at least you will have extra power.

As much as I love my LS1,I would have to agree with Buffdaddy, but if you're determined enough then go for it & have fun.I don't know if the wiring is the same but Painless Wiring can help make it easier doing an engine swap when the wiring harnesses are different

Well guys thanks for all your help...I already have the motor i got it from a friend, but do you think it would be easier to sell the motor and just get a supercharger?

Most likely, yes.
