LS-1 or LS-6 Intake?

I was wondering if anyone knows if there are any distinguishing marks between an ls-1 intake maniforld? My car is supposed to have an ls-6, according to the guy I bought it from, but I think the mechanic may have screwed him.

Thanks,
Adam

If it is a GM LS6 intake it won't have provisions for an egr valve. This is located directly behind the tb flange on a LS1 intake. If it is an SLP intake it could have egr on the LS6 but it should say SLP on it somewhere if that is the case.

what year is this car?01-02 had an ls6 intake stock.

I don't know if you're interested in upgrading the intake manifold but if you are, you might want to look into the "LSX" intake and what type of setup it's meant for. Decide if it's right for your car.

The car is a 99z. I'll check for the egr, if it's there then I'll look and see if there is any slp markings on it. Is the lsx any cheaper than buying the slp ls6 manifold?

The LSX intake is like $800 or more I believe, I'll have to check.

It supposedly gives 15rwhp more than a LS6 though. Guess it's up to you to decide if that's worth it.

P.S: From what people on this board have told me, the LSX is the best intake out there unless you start looking at pure racing sheet metal intakes...that cost $2000+

Thanks for the input.

No EGR, flat bottom (hrad to see on the car).

I just put an (slp) ls6 intake on 00 ss and the new intake from slp has no markings on it anywhere. That was part of the reason I ordered from slp, because from a visiual look theres no difference. I perfer the bonestock look.

check for numbers or writing on it. I have a 99z and have an ls6 intake on it. The only reason i knew was because i had been racing some people when my car was stock and was a little bit faster than it should be. Someone looked at it and pointed out there was a part number written on the side like for an order.
