low Antifreeze light comes on & stays on

Hey guys, this is really bugging the heck out of me. Out of no where, my antifreeze light comes on one day. At first i didn't even know what that light on my dash was for. After reading my service manual, and finding out what it's for, it says that the fluid level might be low. After topping it off. It still stayed on. There were days when i turned the car on, let it run for a few minutes, then shut the car off restarted it and the light would be gone. Now, it stays on for good. I'm a little worried, but at the same time it could be something stupid. Does anyone think it could be the antifreeze cap, maybe just replace it? Or maybe i need to change the fluid? Last time i changed the fluid was maybe a year or two ago. What do you guys think. Anyone have this dumb problem?

Someone told me it could be a sensor? I really hope that's what it is. But how do you know if the sensor is good to begin with? I know i have disconnected the sensor right below the cap, and the light goes off... but i don't know if that's a good thing or whatever.

Yeah, you just disconnect that sensor and you're fine. I did it on my SS, will do it on my Z if the thing gives me problems.

The coolant level sensor is a problem with these cars . It seems everyone has had a problem with theirs including myself. It is located below your radiator cap about 6-8 inches down. You could try cleaning it or just replace it, just lower the coolant some in the radiator first before removing it. Good luck!

My car doesn't even have one - think GM took them off our cars starting in '00.

It's easy to change, just drain the coolant to a level below the sensor and replace it - they go for about $57 GM list at the dealer, cheaper from a sponsor/local parts store. I have PN 10096163 written down but double check.
