looking for tires
i want somthing with good Dry weather handling and good tread wear. noise isn't a big concern and neither is wet traction, because it hardly rains here. I just don't want to be buying tires all the time.
|
Tirerack.com has them categorized in different categories. Plus there prices are good. I bought my tires there and had a shop put them on. The more traction it has the faster they wear.
Heres a thing on tirerack.com that goes through a list of questions to figure out which tires would be best for you. |
thanx, i'll check it out......what tires are you using, and what do you think of them?
|
Im using good year ultras up front and yokohamas AVS 100s in the rear. I think something with similar specifications as the good year ultras would be good for what you want.

thanx for all your help, i'll look into the goodyears

Get some BFG g-Force T/As, they're great.

I bought my rims/tires at tirerack.com and I'm happy with this store (wheels came mounted, balanced incl. nuts within a few days) - however if you buy there and have a different shop mounting and balancing the tires you better buy at that store because tirerack is not cheap on shipping.... then you add mounting/balancing. The Sumitomo HTRZ tires that I bought are great for the money - good grip (dry), acceptable threadwear......don't know what size you need..... 245-50-16 is about 80$ per tire plus s/h plus m/b. You might get a better deal at TireKingdom....

Shipping wasn't to bad. $36 for four tires. They have several warehouses they ship from depending on your location.

There's hardly a correct answer to this question. So many different tires for so many different tastes.
I like the BFG g-Force KDW's I have on my car now. Probably the best tire I've had in any of my F-bodies. I will never want GY GS-C's or RS-A's on my car anymore. Nor would I want Falken Ziex Z-502's. None of those tires were any good, in my opinion. GY's are very noisy and are very expensive compared to the capabilities they have. Falkens have very poor wet traction (I know you said you don't care about the wet traction, but there's not much to cheer about the dry traction, either...). :( One option is Kumho Ecsta Z 712. Inexpensive and have heard pretty much nothing but good about them. I am considering getting them the next time I need tires (hopefully not very soon...), provided they are still available and nothing better in that price range hasn't surfaced. :) TS |
I agree don't get falkens, they were on the car when I bought it and I thought it was normal for the car to always peel durring the 1st to second shift when flooring it, it always peeled durring that shift when I floored it.

I got my Firehawk SZ50 EPs most for wet traction but they're great for dry also.
Tread wear is pretty good if you're not at the track a lot. :D I got mine from tirerack.com over 2 years ago and I remember the shipping being decently priced. |
