lobe separation
i am thinking about upgrading my stock cam to an MTI Signature series cam. I want to maintain drivability and a low idle, does the lobe separation number have anything to do with this? What is the maximum lift stock springs can reach on a 98 LS1? Anyone have any recommendations or suggestions as far as any of this is concerned?

Re: lobe separation
something i forgot to mention before is that the car is a 1LE (suspension upgrades, and highest quality parts from part bin). will these "higher quality" parts mean my stock springs will get higher lift. if so is that just something common sense tells you or is there an actual number that has been proven?

Re: lobe separation
any cam upgrade will require new springs. u should call MTI and talk to someone there about the cam you're looking at. they can tell u what needs to be done when swapping that cam. most common upgrades with cams are springs and pushrods.

Re: lobe separation
titanium retainers cant hurt either :) look at the cam package #1 on thunderracing site.. not saying get it from them, but id get all the things atleast in that package, from wherever you do get it from... im getting the 224/224-112 ot 230/224-111 from them within a week

i like that thunder racing 224/224-114. whats the difference between the same duration model with a 112 lsa?
if you decide to get that 230/224-111 let me know what parts youre getting to go with it? not sure which one seems like the best buy yet. |
Re: lobe separation
if i get the 230/224-111 io may get cam kit #2 but if get 224/224 im def staying with kit #1
im driving to TR this or next weekend, there 45 min away :) and talking to a guy that has done a v8 v6 swap, im doing that, wrecked my z in the rear, picks in sig... and need to ask him a few Qs cory |
