An intake question???

Ok heres my proposed setup. I've already got the FIPK intalled. Does a great job on its own but....I want to get the SS style hood for my Z. Would I be able to use the true ram air setup with my FIPK or no? never seen how the ram air works so pics would be great too. Thanks.

Maybe I don't understand your question, but the ss hood will not give you true ram air...your induction comes from underneath the car. The scoop on the hood is sealed on the underside of the hood. It's just there for looks.

Well now I dont understand. I was fairly certain the SS and WS6 has true ram air, although its very restrictive and doesnt do too much.

You'll get the most benefit from the Ultra Z hood, where the opening is at the front of the hood, right where your intake will be. The SS hood has the opening in the middle of the hood. No benefit at all.

I do like the Ultra-Z but if I get it I'll have to pretty much leave the whole hood red. I kind of like my stripe theme I got going so I dunno. I couldve sworn the SS's have an actual ram air thing besides the hood opening that makes true ram air...

Actually the SS hood circles around and dumps the air right in front of the stock filter box. It doesn't give you a ram air but more of a cold air intake because it doesn't seal up to the box. The problem is that it gets heat soak when idling. Anyway, your fipk would probably work about as well as the stock setup with the SS hood if it mounts in the same spot as the stock air box.

I'll see if I can find some pictures.

Well if its one thing I dont want, its a flashy hood that does absolutely nothing. Which is why I dont drive a mustang... Thanks for all the input. I'll be researching more avenues of approach now to take better advantage of that FIPK.

You can always get a WS6 and cut the baffles and install the BG Ram Air

Thought about it actually. But I kind of raised the Z since 0 miles and I kind of have this attachment to it. :)

Sounds like a good enough reason to me :thumb:

Save your money on the hood and just buy the SSRA. I bought it and it kicks ass. The money you spend on a hood and paint you can put into headers or something. Just my opinion, my buddy is really into hoods and I can understand your wanting one
