Installed my Flowmasters!

Well all I can say is it sounds awesome!!!! If I have lost any hp, I certainly do not feel any in fact I feel a little bit quicker. Sound clips did not do it justice. It roars like a muscle car should and even the shop that installed it thought it sounded great. I love the flowmasters and encourage anyone looking for that deep rumble!!!

Wait until you hear the loud popping between shifts and on deceleration when they're cold and get people asking whats wrong w/your car.

Most exhausts do pop and crackle when cold. The worse sounding exhaust I've ever heard was a borla. Sounded like a dump truck. All that matters is you like the exhaust.

My 1998 Z28 had a Flowmaster muffler on it and it SUCKED! I replced it with a Borla and I could feel the power increase.....I mean a huge difference! Before with the Flowmaster the car would barely spin the tires from a dead stop and the car has the performance 3.23 gears also. When I had the Borla installed it spins all the way until 2nd gear shift!

hard to believe... I just installed a flowmaster on my '99 z28 and after the computer adjusted itself the car ran much better than with the stock muffler.... major burliness on the bottom end and phenomenal sound too.... borla prices were like three times as high.... dude it's a camaro not a ferrari...

Can i ask why to the original poster?

Did you just take out the stock muffler and put in a flowmaster?

Why not get a cutout that will flow a helluva lot more for cheaper.

Beyond that, why didnt you just get a good catback that flows?

I am sure you have sound now, but you probably do not have flow. So why not have a flowing exhaust that sounds good aswell?

The only reason I installed the Borla was because I already had it from my SS. I personally would go with a Loudmouth, Magnaflow, SLP Dula Dual, Hooker or even just a cutout. My Ws6 has a cutout and it sounds badass.

I put a flow on my 95Z when I first got it. I liked it a lot at first, but then I put on a Borla and WOW.

But the $$ is hard to come by sometime, when it comes to a $600+ cat back.

I was satisfied w/ the sound of the Flowmaster though. I think if sound was the main goal, it was accomplished.

I do plan on installing a cutout for the days that I want extreme loud, but the flows are for everyday use. Sound was certainly what I was looking for because I do not race. I just want to look and sound good, and my baby can wake up when necessary.

Borla - the $600 cutout!

If you are happy with your flows, be happy!
Dont worry about all these others and their opinions..

As for the post above, where he wasnt spinning the tires until he put on the borla.. well

If you like the exhaust that's all that matters!

On a side note, I lost 12rwhp through the Flowmaster catback on my '97 when compared to the cutout. (not just 12 peak hp, but all across the rpm range I lost 10-12 hp.)

Well considering the car is mine and I am the one driving it....I would be the one to know what I am talking about. Flooring the accelerator from a stand still would only give a slight squeel of the tires for about 3-5 ft and thats being generous with the Flowmaster. When the Borla was installed the torque had to go up considerably because when stomping the gas from a stand still like before the tires spin until it shifts into 2nd. This is on asphalt not concrete by the way. Also...this may make a difference or it may not; my Z28 only had the Flowmaster muffler, not the entire catback.
