Its a 5.3 liter LS4 that has been redesigned to reduce torque steer. A dealer by me has one on the showroom floor (silver Impala SS) but it stickers a little over 30 grand. At 24 or 25 Gs, I would be a buyer. That motor is also available in the Monte SS and Grand Prix GXP.

i thought that they went back to rear wheel drive to eliminate torque steer with that much power?

It's still FWD, and there still the torque steer is still there.

Re: impala 303hp?

Just drove one (as well as the GXP) a couple of times around the track at Auto Show In Motion and it felt really nice. Interior quality seemed really good. The torque steer didn't feel too bad, but the track wasn't made for hard running, so no extensive accelerations were possible.

All in all, very positive experience. I think it should sell pretty good. At least I hope so. gWould sell A LOT better if the price was clearly below 30K, though.

Yes. All GM SBC's (LS1, LS4, LS2, LS7, LQ9, etc) are derived from one another.

Re: impala 303hp?

i thought there was a difference... because the ls2 is the IV gen engine where as the ls1 is the III gen Engine, so there is only Cubic difference and no internal differences?

Yeah.

A new Charger R/T is $30,000 and is faster, better-looking and a little larger.

Chevy really sissified the looks on this new Impala. Its predecessor looks MUCH better than this thing.

It may be a gen IV but it is still a dirivitive.

The LS4 is designed specifically for FWD applications though. So all the accessories and fluid pumps will be different.

I think you mean '96.

I like those the best too. They've been out of production for almost 10 yrs. and they're still heavily sought after, impressive.

Chevy really needs to start making their cars look more aggressive and sporty again. Styling is probably one of the top factors that makes people buy a certain car, and in my opinion, Chevy is not with the program in that department right now.
