If you own a 01-02 Z or Trans Am you might have a LS6 block
If you own a 01-02 Z or Trans Am you might have a LS6 block
I don't know if this has been posted, but I read in the new issue of GM high tech performance that some of the 2001 and 2002 Z's and Trans am's/Formulas might have come with the LS6 block. According to the magazine about 10% of the cars in 2001 and 25% of the 02 came with the LS6 block. To check look on the drivers side and try and look at the back of the left hand deck, above the transmission flange. If the number reads 12561168 then you have a LS6 block. If you can't see the block number look at the block it's self. If the block is shiny then it isn't an LS6 block, but if it is dull looking then it may be the LS6 block.
Like I said I don't know if this has been posted before, but I just read the article and decided to post it for all the LS1 owners.

I heard about this, But i didnt know wheather or not i Belive that 10% of cars had this General Mistake GM. Usually its just a few cars, like back in the Z-28 IROC and IROC-Z period when a few slipped out with vette parts on them. Or the Rumored 1 98' Firehawk supposedibly built and the 2 96' SS Impalas said to have escaped the testing site with LT4's and T-56 6-speeds. If this LS6 rumor holds true and you have one, your one lucky person.
