i want my 98 A4 to run 12s. am i on the right track

what mods will get my 98 A4 into the 12s. i have just installed a flowmaster and it sounds great. i did the fra mod, but none of the other free mods yet. i'll be adding a airbox lid, a set of 4.10s, and probably a hypertech mostly for speedo calibration. will these mods get me into the 12 second range. any suggestions?

Get a good Stall covertor for your auto. But if you plan on driving your auto daily. ditch the 4.10s. Those will be crazy on the highway. 3.73s are much better comprimise for you with your auto.

I am dubious on the performence of a flowmaster exhaust. I have never seen any dyno sheets but numerous people have said that they add the least horsepower out of any cat-back.

Any lid will do for horsepower. A SSRA kit will also help a lot on the track.

But if you do all of those mods and a good set of tires and stall convertor you should run 12's pretty easily.

what up nsty. you would definitely need a lil more mods. i would definitely drop the flow and 4.10. get a better cat back either loudmouth, or borla even hookers catback. i would get 3.73 just in case it is your daily driver like what glove said. then a lid would do. any lid it doesnt matter its all the same. then i probably would get headers and a torque converter and some tires. that should put you at least close to 12. there is an article i think it was in car craft a bunch of kids put a 98 100,000 mile ls1 in 12. it pretty much was a few bolt ons...hope this helps man

i have been following the car craft feature too, but my car is my only ride and they are building what seems to a drag car. what converter is a good one and will a LM give my car a vicious sound. i just have flowmaster muffler not a catback so i can change that. will my 3.23s work well with a converter until i can change my gears. thanks for input

323'S should work well . You car might hit 12's with just a few intake bolt ons . I have a friend who ran a 12.7 in his 2000 LS1 auto w/2:73's . He has a wisper lid , free ram air , and ported MAF ends . Thats it !

stall and sticky tires will get you there.

Since you installed the flowcrapper all ready I would suggest getting a cutout. That way you can open up the horses when you go to the track and run the flowmaster the rest of the time.

Lid, SSRA, underdrive pulley and drag radials. That with a decent track elevation and cool air should get you barely into the 12's. A torque converter is the best way to get 12's but a TC is not a cheap mod. It'll likely run 1K before it's all said and done.

Good Luck in your quest for 12's.

ditch the 4.10, get 3.73 or 3.42s
You don't need a Torque Convertor, its a more involved install, do some research first. I'm not saying its a bad mod at all......just that I think you should do some other mods first.
I'd get some sticky tires and SSRA and headers. That should get you to 12's with a good launch.
