Re: I finally got a me a 99 z28

Hi, My son's '95 Bonne 3.8 had the same situation. I end up doing the waterpump, radiator, thermostat, flush and the coolant additive I mentioned before. I bought the relay, but never put it in as the car responded to the shotgun approach. I was lucky to find the wtr/pmp for $35 and the rad for 99 shipped on Amazon. Try propane to look for vac leaks , listen with a piece of garden hose. Call summit and ask about that harness and pick their brain. A ,manual switch wouldn't bother me, just be sure to turn it on and off. Good luck

I got them to come on. the car had the wrong relays in it when I purchased the car 2 weeks ago. I got the correct relays and they came on. I chased this problem down for 3 days. i guess its time for new o2s, a stall convertor and finally a tune.

I would check the coolant sensor mounted on the rad if your fans aren't coming on. I think it is on the passenger side of the rad tank. It sounds like you have some electrical issues with that many codes - have you checked the grounds?

In 98 the sensor on the passenger end tank of the radiator, right below the fill neck is the coolant level sensor. I think they got rid of it in 00. Not sure about the 99.
The coolant temp sensor for the PCM is in the driver's side head.

Check out my post right before yours post #32 I said Igot the fans working they had the wrong relays in there. There fore once I change out my o2s and get my tune that would take of my codes thats left like the egr, rear o2s,.Thanks guys for your help. I just had to do alot of reading and some guys off ls1tech.com got me there. My car pulls eally good now its just still gets sluggish once its goes into over drive until I get down on and it pulls better but I think a tune should take care of these issues. My plugs look really lean. I checked the driver side and 1 off the passenger side yesterday and they still look new. The tips are shiny barely toasty. wipe off like new.

But WhiteHawk I most definately need a coolant level sensor. My inside light comes on from time to time. I didn't know that it controls the fans from coming on either though but problem solved for now.

Really great you ironed things out. Believe me, I had seven new plugs when I bought it. When the headers were done, the passenger plug next to the fire wall had a burned out AC/Delco plug. Do yourself a favor and change that plug. You will really notice that extra
cylinder!!!

I still have a few codes but they are for the egr which is eliminated and the rear o2s which are eliminated also but I have a code P1635 5 volt reference circuit 1 which I have no clue what to look for. Does anyone have info how to fix this P1635. I have searched and haven't found any fix it results.

Yea, I had them switched but glad you figured it out.

That 5V issue can be a corroded ground or terminal. A bunch of sensors use the 5V as a reference, not sure what the whole list is put it is things like EGR, TPS, pressure sensors.

Just unplug it,its a waste of money to buy one if you do routine maintanence.

Mine came on but it was a false reading in both my 94 and my 99.
