Hypertech or Jetchip for 2002 Corvette?
So what are the benefits of each chip. I can see that they are almost the same in price. Which one would be better to run in a 2002 Corvette auto?
I would DEFINITELY go with the Hypertech Power Programmer III! The JET is just a chip that stays plugged in. The PCM's from '94 on are programmable, so there isn't a chip to change out. The Hypertech unit will give you a LOT of adjustability, especially since you have an A4. You can fine-tune your shift points, raise your rev limiter, turn the fans on earlier, add the power tuning (160* thermostat recommended), correct your speedometer for gear ratio or tire height changes, firm up your shifts, etc. It's a much better option than the JET unit is. I've yet to hear of anyone that's seen any performance difference with the JET chip anyways. The problem is that Hypertech does not have the HPP3 out yet for the '01 or '02 C5's. I just got off of the phone with them, and they're saying that it'll be another 3-4 months before it's released.
Feel free to give me a call if I can help you out. We have the Borla Stinger cat-backs in stock for the C5's that would work well for ya.

I don't know about the jet chip, but I had the Hypertech. Everything on it is good except for the engine tuning. It creates more knock retard than it does horsepower in a lot of cases. If you run nothing but 93+ octane you might get away with it. But a lot of people have confirmed the KR with autotap, etc. There are much better mods for the money in my opinion. Just my .02

98 Z28 * Silver w/ebony leather * T-tops * Chrome wheels * A4 * 51K * Loudmouth * K & N * Whisper Lid * Reflective CAMARO fill-ins on back * Blackouts *
Some people take their mods off and sell them after they sell a car, I just buy another car to put them on.
My former car (god I miss her, but I just couldn't afford her!):
1999 SS * Build No. 1428 * A4 * Pewter w/tan leather * 29K * Whisper Lid * K&N Filter * FRA Mod * Hypertech Power Programmer 3 (no power tuning) * Rear vinyl letter fill-in stickers (black) * Blackouts (front and back) * Tint * Loudmouth *

The power tuning alone has consistently been good for .08-.1 in the 1/4. Some people can't get more than 91 octane in their area, and that's where the problems come into play with the power tuning. The power tuning adds timing at WOT, so you need the octane to support it. If you can get 93 octane, then you shouldn't have any problems.
