HP Gains From Update to SS Exhaust??

I have a 99 Z and don't have the money to get a new cat-back so I was going to update to a stock slp exhaust from a 2000 SS, muffler and tips. I was just wondering what kind of hp gains I should expect or if I'll run into any problems.

If money's an issue maybe you should consider a cut out? Pretty cheap.
Also, you can typically find a decent used cat-back exhaust in the Parts for Sale forum for anywhere between $100-$200, give it a try.

i second the cutout, or you could just weld up an inexpensive dynomax muffler onto the stock pipe and tips.

the stock pipes are 2.75" mandrel bent...i think the SS is the same but it could be 3".

there probably isn't much to gain in just the SS muffler

Save your money, you won't really see any gains that way. Nothing worth writing home about anyways. Get a cut out if you really wanna gain some power the cheap way.

Another vote for cutout.

A cat-back will give you gains of about 10 - 15 rwhp. As said earlier nothing astrinomical. I think most people enjoy the change in exhaust tone rather than the increase in HP.

Replacing the stock muffler with an after market one is an economical way to go. You will see nearly the same gains as with a full cat-back.

The stock SS exhaust is NOT SLP. It is 2.75" tubing.

The SLP dual/dual exhaust was an option on SS's. This is 3" stainless. Not loud but flows very well. Has a nice mellow rumble. I've seen them go for a little over $100. No one seems to want them because they are quiet, but put on some headers and they sound very nice IMO.
