Sounds about right to me. Mid lengths might give between 15-20 rwhp.

I have long tubes and they sounds great. I havent heard any mid lengths on an LS1 yet. They will definately make it louder. Also I know alot of people on this board have Macs, some love them, some wish they went with long tubes. Its all about your preference and if you have emissions.

I wouldn't bother with Macs if I were you. With Pacesetter and Flowtech offering coated LT's with Y-pipe for under $600 I don't see the point in Mid lengths anymore since the introduction of affordable LT's. You still fail a visual test (if you get one which most people don't) since both mid lengh and long tube force you to relocate or remove cats. Both require 02 sensors or HF cats to pass the OBDII test.

You gonna gain an extra 5-10 RWHP by going with LT's over Macs and for the price of Pacesetters or Flowtechs I say why not go LT? But if you do go Macs I heard thier HF cats suck bad so you might want to consider ORY or getting some carsound cats.

Good Luck

I gained about 20 to 25rwhp. I had the dynos online but Geocities just deleted it. Make sure to not buy the MAC cats as stated. Also clean up and port the exhaust ports on the manifolds and open up the ball collectors. Kinda free mods for the MACs. I'm looking to do another set on my 01 I just got.

Best thing to do for the ORY is just have some exhaust shop fab one for you. They usually will do it in the neighborhood of $100 so it actually is cheaper then buying most companies Y-pipe.

Whoever you buy the Pacesetters through will sell the O2 sensors you need. Just tell them you need a pair for the headers your buying and they should hook you up.

I know Texas Speed and Performance and Speed Inc both sell pacesetters for a decent price.

Good Luck

www.texas-speed.com has free shipping on the headers now, and they are doing a deal on the o2 extensions (needed with LT's) at buy one for $25 and get the second free.

or you could just extend them yourself with wire splices.

not sure why everyone says the pacesetter ypipe sucks? it seems good to me in pics.

they are flattened a bit or clearance, but since it's 3" pipe...it wouldn't be a restriction.
