It has the stock 4l60 series in it. I heard these things don't take abuse very well. Like my '97 had the T56 and I was never worried about breaking it. If I do eventually need a rebuild I will just swap to a 6 speed. I don;t go tot he track all that often, but do get on it quite a bit while driving in the country. How much should I excpect this tranny to take? Thanks

its hard to say and without going into great discussion...keep the temps down-- deep truck pan and a big cooler. heat is the number 1 killer of autos.

Well so far........................359 passes down the 1/4 and almost 24,000 miles in the last 3 years. First 2 years the tranny was stock on GSCs or Nitto DRs and all this year with a Yank St3500, TransGo kit, and B&M cooler on ET streets.
I just keep knocking on wood
Check the sig for times and dyno #s

First off...smal correction

It's a 4L60E not a 4L60. I know it's small, but there was a 4L60 in the 93 model (no electronic gear selection).

As for power, most people state that up to about 400 HP you should do ok, as long as you dont have an insane stall.

A tranny cooler, and a deep pan will push you a little further, mabye up ro about 450 before you really run a hish risk. Then again, I've heard of people blowing trannies stock with some really rough launches. It's all in the way you drive it, and how hard you use it.

One of these trannies will handle 600 HP if you launch like a granny, or it'll blow with stock HP, a 4500 stall and a nasty launch.
