Hey everyone, this is my first LS1 Tech post. Im selling my LT1 before my first yera of college and hopefully getting an LS1 next summer. In any event, I was reading some posts about exhausts and people have been saying that no cat, and a cutout are insanely disgustingly, cop attracting, loud. How would an LS1 no cat cutout sound compared to my just cutout LT1? Louder/Quieter? Right now my car isnt even loud enough, cops dont even give it a second look, so I want something louder on an upcoming LS1.

Also, I hear alot about LS1s sounding "crappier" for lack of a better word, than LT1s. DO open exhaust LS1s still sound good? There are no modded 98-02s around here so Ive never heard a catback let alone a cutout on an newer camaro/firebird.

I have a 99 Z28 with Long tube headers and I have a cut out on it. Before I put my cam in, the cutout NEVER was closed. Now that I have a decent sized cam it is way too loud. I cant even hear someone on my phone with the windows closed with the stereo off and the car in 6th gear at 65 mph. But with the cut out closed its damn near quiet as stock.

So what i am saying is, if you dont have a bigger cam in your car then a cut out sounds pretty damn good. Even with long tubes and no cats.

 

Completely agree...I run long tubes/no cats/open cutout and love it.

 

im running longtubes, no cats and a dynomouth which is pretty close to a cutout since theres still no muffler involved...its STUPID loud but doesn't sound half as bad as everyone assumes...its ANGRY sounding!!!
