Post how to get this hurst handle off

i've got a hurst shifter in my TA and people have told me that it simply screws off but that doesn't seem tobe the case. i can flex my handle about 15 degress both ways and it won't break lose, ofcourse i'm afraid of it breaking. what does it take to get the handle off the shaft? it doesn't make sense that is screws on because it has to be aligned. is i glued on?

Like already stated, it should just screw off and it will be difficult at first because there is some kind of thread lock on it from the factory. If it's not a factory shifter you may want to check to see if it has a small set screw at the base of the shift **** that needs to be loosened.

Got the cue ball in today. The stock one DID just twist off. Just had to try harder. It looks like it they used some yellow RTV or sinmilar when it was put on at the factory.
