it can be tuning but it wont give you 40hp

the ses light thats on in your car could be the problem
eventhough i think its the code for 02 sensors it can cause some loss

...or your horseys decided to make a run for it...

It's actually the "law of depreciation" that the 00 SSs expierenced, after a while the 00s begin to lose power. Seriously though your AF wasn't that far off you might be able to pick up 10-12 if you get that dialed in and I'm sure there's some more in the timing. Take those cats off to, who knows maybe there clogged up or something. That power had to go somewhere, come to think of it defiently check the cats, maybe thats why your exhaust is stinking so much.

depends. if its the rear 02 then your car will retard the timing. if it was that though you'd definately notice right away. has the car been tuned in the past? was it tuned on a wideband? if its untuned it is possible you've got some plug issues or fouled cats (if you still have those). if your untuned your probally running very rich, so everything that could get fouled is going to get fouled alot quicker. what did your dyno sheet look like? was it all erratic?

It is the one behind the right cat. I had probs with those. Which is why I got em replaced to high flow cats. My SES light is on, autozone says its the rear right 02 sensor behind the cat. By retard timing you mean that if I gun it off of about a 30 mph roll, it will not pass up 3500 rpm. Cause every couple of weeks or so when I gun it at about 30 mph it wont rev past 3500.
