Unhappy HELP!! Black spring broke off clutch pedal under dash!

I was just driving normally and when I engaged the clutch I heard the spring pop off and I saw it laying there on the floor.. Does anyone know what this is or what it does? The car still drives normally and everything seems to be working properly.. Let me know something guys, thanks in advance.

Why worry about what the spring is,, or what it does?? And if you are,, just get a hold of a Haynes repair manual for the car(around $15).. But the best thing to do is drive that WS6 to the nearest dealer, and have them repair it for you.. After all,, the car is under warranty for 3 years,, and 35,000 miles.. and don't let them wiggle out of fixin for you.. They do a real good job of not honoring the warranty!!

Sorry, no warranty. Almost 38,000 miles. And my haynes manual says nothing about it.. Guess I'll have to wait it out and see if anything major happens.

I just bought a 2002 Z28,, I'll pull the cover off of the bottom of my dash, and check it out.. I'll let you know on Monday or Tuesday where I see it go to.. Have to go to the drags tomorrow(crew chief on 82 Cavalier S/Pro car).. It would **** me off too!!

See ya

Mine broke about 3000 miles ago, I've got an aftermarket clutch, but it still works without any problems.
