He should still consider using HF cats and maybe even switching his catback to a magnaflow or hooker or something along those lines.

sure we do...just like we know what the "ideal woman" is, and the meaning of life....

that is such an open ended question it's rediculus.

all longtubes, given the same primary tube diameter and similar collector style will dyno basically the same...
shorties-mids-longtubes is another argument all together.

go with what you can afford

some notes on certain brands:

kooks and SLP are stainless, won't rust but are VERY expensive.
SLP has the worst ground clearance
flowtech and pacesetter seem to be the lowest cost
jet-hots have probably the best coating
hookers are most popular due to moderate cost and good quality

LOL If he's just cruising, he won't get a ticket. If he's drag racing, I doubt the officer will care as much about how LOUD his car was in comparison to the handful of laws he broke. All aftermarket exhaust is technically a potential "loud muffler" ticket. Cops don't care much about that. What I'm saying is, under normal driving conditions, a loudmouth can be more quiet on an M6 car than on an A4 car. We have the option to choose which RPM we cruise at. Not everyone drives around like an idiot at WOT all the time, and like I said, if he DOES bring those RPMs up, his ticket won't be for loud muffler it will be for racing.

Lol, Have you ever heard a Loudmouth + LT headers - cats? I have and it's not only real loud but it sounds like crap. I'm not talking about cruising on the highway at 1500 rpm's. I'm talking about accelerating from a red light with a cop 2 cars back that you didn't see. You don't need to go WOT to attract attention with that particular setup. I was warned once about my Dynomouth being too loud by a cop and I don't even have headers yet. So don't tell me the cops don't care because some do. It all depends on the area, the cop and the time of day/night.

BTW he CAN get a ticket for a loud muffler. I know a kid on my street that got that ticket in his truck (very loud truck so I can see why). Besides this is all aside from the fact that it sounds like CRAP. If you don't daily drive your car and cops are not a concern then that's fine. But a much better sounding setup with LT's - cats would be true duals, GMMG or Borla.

Try this link. This is one of the best exhaust/header writeup and reviews out there. Jet hots are very popular but in all honesty I would go with Kooks if you had the money to spend or Pacesetter coated if you were on a tighter budget.

Good Luck

Don't forget about QTP's. They're stainless too, and install is a piece of cake ;)

Do stainless headers change in color like turning blue

Re: headers

No, mine haven't turned any 'weird' colors, although they did get a slight "burnt" look to them. I think it goes away if you polish them, though. That's another good thing about stainless ;)
