Question Is this a good trade??

Hey all, I wanting to know if you all think this is a good trade or not. I currently have a 97 Z-28 (m6) Hard Top, with the mods down below and 103,500 miles on it. I am most likely trading it in for a 01 WS6 (m6) T-Tops, with 38,000 miles on it, and only a Blowmaster muffler for mods. The Dealer said I can swap my Pro 5.0 shifter out of my Z with the one in the WS6 so that is good, since it was only a factory hurst anyways. I drove the WS6 on a test drive and it was very nice and had some ***** for nothing really done to it. I didn't hear anything bad, not even the famous piston slap, so that's awsome too. So does this sound like a good trade? Thanks

Hell yes. I had a 97 WS6 and a 95 Formula--both fast. But the two put together don't touch my current one with a ten foot pole. Just my .02

If that's what you want and you can afford it, then by all means go ahead and do it. They are probably not going to give you much for your 97, though...

Good luck!

Considering you don't have heads and cam in your mod list, I would say that is an excellent trade. LS1 WS6 with the tops off on a warm summer night is a beautiful thing. Post some pics of the new car when you get it.

Good Luck

Go for it, that 01 can probably eat your 97 up even w/ the mods

Hate to burst your bubble, but I can pretty much guarantee that that WS6 will audible piston slap when it's cold. Almost all LS1's do. Chances are, it was too noisy at the dealership, much less over the Flowmaster to hear the slap clearly. It happened to me when looking at LS1's at dealerships. Didn't hear the slap on anything I looked at and testdrove, but when I looked at mine, I heard it pretty clearly because it was in a quiet neighborhood. The slap won't hurt anything, just an annoying characteristic of LS1's really.

Well I hope it doesn't, but if it does and it doesn't hurt anything, then oh well. Since I heard it only doesn't when you first start it up after it has sat for a while and was cold. Thanks for the replies and I should be picking it up tommorrow morning. I will post pics once I get the car.

Re: Is this a good trade??

Mine doesn't have any piston slap and this is my second winter with this car. Hopefully you'll be as lucky as I was. But most LS1 piston slap is harmless and goes away once the engine warms up.

Good Luck tomarrow

I am usually 1/2 - 3/4 quart low so I do burn a bit of oil which LS1's are also known to do.
