is this a good deal?

Hi, im new to this board, and im thinking about buying a camaro. it is a blue Z28 2000 auto with 44,000 miles, leather, t tops, looks in good condition, no dents, engine looks clean, only mod seems to be after market dual exhausts. sticker price is 14,999, but in a buyers guide, it was listed at 13,844. im wondering what all your opinions are on this, and if it is a good but, or do i maybe have a chance of getting the dealer to lower the price a little? thanks

Sounds like a good deal to me. Kbb.com will give you the value of the car for your area.

Welcome to the board.

Camaro's are not too expensive, I would look into getting a 6 speed if I was you, unless of course you WANT a auto. But thats not a bad deal, but you can find better. I paid $12,000 for mine and it had 40K miles exactly on it. Its in the sig. Its fully loaded minus traction control, which for me is a good thing. So i think you can find a better deal.

Welcome to the board! :thumb:

Price depends on the market in your area.

KBB Edmunds, NADA etc. "book values" should be used as a reference only. Most of them have nothing whatsoever to do with actual prices the cars are sold. Edmunds might be the closest.

I paid $14.4 for my loaded 2000 w/36K miles in March 03 and at that time it was pretty good deal around here. Now 00's w/low miles are selling for $12-13K. Then again, car are pretty cheap here in TX. ;)

Good luck! :thumb:

It doesn't sound like a bad deal but it doesn't sound like a good one either. If you like the car enough then get it but I'd try to get them down to an even 14k if I could. Make sure you look around real good first and definately make sure your ok with an automatic.

The number one regret among F-body owners is wanting a M6 but buying an A4. If you want to run it a lot at the track then definately find an A4 and put a torque converter in it ASAP. Stalled autos are beasts for 1/4 mile racing and easy on the 10 bolt rear end. Just make sure your getting the car you want is all.

Good Luck

i think im going to get this car even though its an auto, it cant be much slower than a manual. BTW does anyone know what stock auto 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are?

99blackSS Mar 1, 2004 11:29 PM

Mid to low 5s 0-60. Mid 13s 1/4.

i paid 21k for my ws6 in february of 03..... fully loaded with 25k miles on it. this included an extended warrenty which is ummm, refunded lol

AndrewCZ28 Mar 2, 2004 12:02 AM

yeah the dealer offered me an extended warranty like yours which would be refunded also if nothing goes wrong. sounds good to me

Definately a good deal. I'd take it as well.

AndrewCZ28 Mar 10, 2004 12:09 AM

what do u guys think, the car has been at the lot since july, i discovered, so u think i could get it cheaper than 13600, (14183 with tax and fees) b/c its been there so long and now they have a chance of selling it

also with 44000 miles, u think its good or should i try to find something with less miles, 44000 not too high is it?

i will definitely take it to a mechanic to check it out b/c i want to make sure it wasnt beat on. it is almost stock, as far as i can tell, except for aftermarket exhaust, so i hope there are no problems

99blackSS Mar 10, 2004 01:12 AM

44k for a 2000 is normal, a little on the low side if anything.

95GRNZ Mar 10, 2004 07:30 AM

Again, depends on the market in your area. Over here something like that would go for about $12K, max. Unfortunately... :(

Then again, if it has been sitting on the lot since July, there has to be a reason for that. :alert: Better find it out before committing to anything.

If it checks out fine and you are happy with the price, that is all that matters. Right? ;)

Good luck! :thumb:
