Gettin a cam.....what else do i need?

I'm thinkin bout gettin the MTI G1 cam or something like that.......i think it was a 231/231 113 LSA.

What else do i need.....make a list.....i wanna be safe so give me a good list.

1) torque converter.....how big? and would it run fine with that size torque converter until i get the cam?

2) Gears.....3.73's? and transgo shift kit. Gettin just gears alone will help my rear end last longer until i get a whole new rearend right?

3) Valve springs.......wanna get dual springs.

4) Rocker arms

5) Double roller timing chain

6) Oil pump

Do i need pushrods and tappets or what?

Then i'm prolly gonna throw on a pulley and 160 thermo
......And a tune to top it off!

What Klypto said. Buy a cam kit. You need to at least up grade springs, retainers, pushrods. Get springs that are rated for the cam's lift. Saying "double springs" means little. Its pretty vague, kind of like the guys that say they have a 3/4 race cam.

converter...get a tans cooler as well

gears...no, these WILL NOT make your rear last longer. Exactly the opposite, but your an A4 so you're pretty safe.

I HIGHLY suggest doing more research into this prior to purchase. This way you know what you're talking about and what you're going to get/need. No offense, but right now it looks like you're just throwing $ at the car w/out the knowlege to make logical descisions. Do what Klypto said and call one of the well known or go to a local shop and learn. I'm not saying this to be an a$$, I just hate seeing guys throw $ at cars and not get decent returns. You need to decide what you want out of your car besides just more power.

Personally, I'd do converter/gears 1st. Just those 2 mods alone should drop at least .6-.7 sec off your ET. Then go for the cam when you can afford ported heads.

Another thing I noticed, you have a lot of "GO" parts and no mention of "WHOA". Don't forget to look at your breaking system. The faster/quicker you go the harder it is for your stock breaks to stop ya.

if youre going with gears id get a cover to help keep things together under hard launches.i went with a MAC cover.youll need DRs too to make use of all this power.

a stall of at least 3500 is what id go with.

a cam is a great mod.theres alot of choices there.

if you can have everything installed at once then get it tuned.

You will need a tune w/ a cam. Timeing chain? Do we need to replace that on the LS1's? I know on the older 350's, this is the first time I have heard about replacing 1 on a LS1 tho.

U r right kinda but its not a while till i'll have that money so i'll have time to think about it..........i know how big that cam is, i know some of the stuff i'm gonna need. My original plan was to get new rims......but i've decided to put that on hold as long as my rims clean up ok which i think they will. I might do ported heads but i'm not so sure yet. I think gettin just the cam would give me the kinda power i'd be happy with.......for right now.

The brakes i plan on doing once i get a whole new rear end possibly or when i'm doin the suspension. I'm not too hard on the stock brakes though......i usually don't go too fast cuz i'm kinda paranoid about cops thinkin "oh thats a cop" but at least i know i won't get any tickets. For the breaks though would just rotors do the job or would i have to get a complete braking system........cuz i know those are pretty expensive.

The gears i think i might leave out for now....i got the stock option 3.23's or whatever they are. I think i'll save the gears for the whole new rearend.

These cars are such moneypits!!!!!!!!!

I thought i remembered readin somewhere that it would be a good idea to replace it.......could be wrong?

Bout the sizes for the double springs.......i'll find out what i should get when i'm actually ready........i'm just kinda tryin to get an idea of what its gonna cost.

I would suggest a 3600-3800 stall with that cam to put you in its powerband.
