I just install my new SLP Lid and Holley Powershot filter a few weeks back.
After the installation of these two units my gas mileage "seemed" to decrease. I have on way of proving it thou. I never figured out the gas mileage on my car prior to the installation.
Does the cars computer automatically adjust to the increase in air flow?
Has anyone eles noticed this? Is this normal?

**This is most likely a psycologial thing, its problely all in my head.**

The PCM does notice the increase in airflow. The effect is negligible. It may have more to do with the increased weight of your right foot.

Well,

I would assume that the computer would adjust the A/F mixture, but would not think that a lid & filter would do enough "damage" to cause a gas mileage decrease.

Perhaps your right foot has gotten heavier w/ the increase in HP's ??

Could it also be avariance in how you filled the tank - I.E. maybe you really topped off the tank before the lid & this time the pump cut off a 1/2 gallon or so quicker ?

Just some random thoughts !

I put in the K & N on the T/A pretty quickly after purchase, so I can't really say for certain if it had an effect - I do not believe the lid did (in terms of mileage).

The SS had both already installed , so no help there.

Mine went up a little, maybe 1-1.5. I also noticed another gain from the muffler. It's funny how my LS1 w/ twice the horsepower of my old 305 TBI in my 92 Camaro, gets 4mpg's better (23 vs 19 mpg's). Ahhhh technology!
