a few Qs

Hey I'm new here and I just have a few questions. First off I have a 99 TA auto with Flowtech headers and Y-pipe, borla exhaust, slp lid, 255/45 bf goodwrich tires. What do you think I run in the 1/4? I raced a srt4 (stock) and only beat it by 2.5 - 3 cars at around 120 mph. Shouldn't I be faster than that?

What should my next mod be? I'm thinking a high stall torque converter but what stall is the best? I also want a new hood because my current hood is just the normal hood and is scratched up badly. Does a hood really make a big difference in performance (I thought it was only like 10 hp) or is it mostly visual?

Re: a few Qs

i would say a rough estimate on the track time would be 13.0-13.3 give or take.

you could have the crappy 2.73 gears which can hold you back pretty bad. but those little turbo cars are quick.

do you have a lid on the car? cause you have the exhaust opened up, but if you can't get air in it doesn't do much good.

as for the hood...for the most part visual. although the WS6 ram air is pretty effective, i would say it's about 10hp but only at higher speeds.

i would say get the lid, look into gears, and look into the converter. most say to go 3000+ on the tc.

Re: a few Qs

Your next mod should be a smaller converter.

Go out and nail it. If it shifts out of first at around 40 then it's 3.23s if it'll stay in first till over 50 it's a 2.73 car. You could check the driveshaft, 2.73 = steel shaft, 3.23s = aluminum shaft.
The converter will help more than the gears for straight line acceleration. So I'd get that first.
As far as gear choice that's determined by how you want to use your car and somewhat by what you plan for mods later on.

Re: a few Qs

Or you can just look for the codes on the door jam.
GU2 2.73 Standard
GU5 3.23 Optional
