Car: 00' TA LS1
Question one: How good is the stock ignition and coil.
Question one-b: Where in the heck are they located? I think I found it, but I'm not sure...
Why: I pulled my MSD 6A and GM Harness from my retired LT1 Z28. Does the MSD offer more in terms of ignition than the LS1 stock ignition? Will the GM harness work with the system?
---------------
Question two: Cut-Outs. Do they improve on the LS1 setup? In my LT1 setup I was disappointed with how much low end torque I lost with a cutout...I loved the sound, but the torque loss was unforgiveable. Do the advantages of adding a cutout to the LS1 good enuff to go for it?
Question Two-b:Same question for gutting the
Why: This would eliminate the need for an aftermarket muffler. I would just need to run a wider pipe from the cats.

Thanks guys!

The stock ignignition is pretty good. There is a coil for each cyl. located on the valve cover in a pretty little bank.
If you were looking for one or two... we've found your problem.
for the second question, I dont really know since i still have the stock exhaust.

Alright bro here you go
Question 1: Actually its very good, unless you stoke up, you really need not change it.
Question 1b: Right on top of your valvce covers, there are 8 packs, 4 on each side with a spark plug wire coming out of it. Cant miss it!!!
Question 2: A cutout alone will yield you and estimated 10 hp. You might suffer a very limited low end. Hardly noticeable. Its a defite must, I makes your car scream, more power, especially In you mid to high end. If you get a cutout get a electric one, so you can open it and close it from inside the car. Oh and place the cutout in the I-pipe right before the pipe goes over the axle.
Question 2b: If you gut the cats, run a piece of pipe straight through the cat, dont just hollow it out, because that will hurt you ever more. I would recommend keeping a muffer on your car. As far as changing your I-pipe, only go to a 3" at most, any bigger will hurt performance, unless if you are stroked.
I have this setup on my car. ORY-pipe, cutout, 3" Spintech exhuast. You'll love it!
Hope this helps....Rockls1
