Angry F**k!!! Car drove went off end of ramps!!!

Well I was putting the car up on ramps and the clutch didn't disengage so it kept going right of the edge of the ramps. There was a huge clunk and didn't sound good.

I got out and the side skirts of the GFX were hanging off. I got the jack and jacked it up using the k-member. Got the ramps out from under and looked. There was some definite damage. There is somepart under the car that is connected to one of the side panels. That it broken. What else could I of damaged, and how do I fix it? Thanks

UPDATE: There are flanges, one on each side that the quarter panel bolts to. Both were bent and I bent them both back in place. But the qarter panel on the driver side broke where is was bolted to this flange. Do I have to get another whole quarter panel?

Also all of the plastic screws sheered off, how do I replace those?

Thumbs up

Congrat's!

Actually, I did the exact same thing myself last fall, except what happened was the car was up ON the ramps, so I put it in park, set the e-brake, opened the door to get out, and BANG, the front wheels slipped over the edge of the ramps!

Those two flanges underneath both bent, so I straightened them out again, and the GFX on the right side was hanging off!! (those two plastic clips that hold them at the front broke). Fortunately at the time, I had just changed the lid on my car, so I used two of the plastic clips that held the factory air box to replace the broken ones from the GFX (not exactly the same, but they're still there today!). Other than that, nothing "broke", except those clips, so I'm not sure what to tell ya about the quarter panel at that flange?.............I think they're plastic. As long as it doesn't seem like that panel is going to "flap in the breeze", maybe it could be repaired using fibre-glass or something??

Don't worry........................at least you're not the only one!

I wish you hadn't busted anything on your car because it would have made a great, funny story (I almost busted out laughing). Sorry about your mishap. Reminds me of when I accidentally drove the riding mower into the side of my Dakota - left a good sized dent. Sorry, I know this didn't help you at all- just though I'd let you know that everyone screws up. Good luck.

I wont rip on this guy, cause what goes around comes around. I know for a fact, i laughed my *** off at a guy i worked with for walking into a sharp knub sticking out of a tree by a conveinence store, cause he showed up with a cut on the side of his head. Not 4 days later was i walking to the store when i looked to the road, cause i heard a loud Z28 looked back, and bang, it took me down. When i get up off the ground, there was the guy i made fun going ohhh S**T you bleeding like no bodys business. 7 stiches latter and the 1.5 inch long quarter inch deep gash in my forhead was good to go.

I've only had problem havving the ramps slide out half way, not going over the front, SO far.

Well it doesn't look there is too much damge. At least not yet. Where the quarter panel bolts up to the flange is definitly broken off. Maybe some fiberglass will fix it like you said, but at this point it appreas to be going no where. All of the plastic pins broke so I got some better ones with screws.

Funny thing is before this, the passenger side trim wasn't straight. The door was about 1/2" further in than the quarter panel. Now after bending stuff back, they are exactly flush and closer together

The flange on the driver side is F'd, it's all bent up and crap. Once someone goes under they will see it no problem. And the passenger flange didn't bend, it crumpled up like a slinky. That one is hopeless but it tightened up the quarter panel. Oh and now the driver side door creeks as you open it. Something more definitely happened, hopefully it will drive the same :blah:

Well, you just have to suck it up and get it fixed right. **** happens. Have you thought about insurance taking care of this? Just out of curiosity, what were you about to do with your car when you got it up on the ramps?

I was going to change the spark plug wire on the #8 cylinder, because it it not accesible from the top without removing stuff. But I changed it while the car was jacked up to fix the bent flanges, so something bad leads to two good things, alinged side panels, and a complete set of new spark plug wires

No, I'm just gonna leave it until it flaps in the breeze or falls off. At which I can fiberglass it or carbon fibre it back together
