engine noise?

was listening today and when i got on the car sounded like a ringing or pinging noise. when i got home i let the car idle and when i put my head down by the wheel wells i could hear it real good. its kind of a rough sound a guy told me it was normal for the ls1 because its aluminum and its a noisy engine. i baby it dont hot rod it and as long as ive had it its done it but now its irritating me i use 93 in it. so is there something wrong or does the if you want power the engine is not going to be quiet rule apply? thanks for any help

Well right there is your problem
Noise descriptions are almost totally impossible to diagnos on the net. I run the dog snot out of the 00 and always have. Is it noisy? Yep.
If you don't have a clatter that varies with engine speed, a heavy thump, or a constant miss then chances are that the noises you're hearing are normal.

Re: engine noise?

I think know the sound you're talking about. Kinda like a vibration/tingle? It bugged the hell out of me too so I took it up to the dealer. Turns out it's a wire that bounces against the block and its a washer making the sound. It's totally normal and you get used to it. EVERY LS-1 makes weird sounds. Just wait until your fuel injectors start clicking real loud-- that one always confuses people, they think they have bent rods.
