Dynomouth or Corsa
Ive been reading a lot about the Dynomouth exhaust mod, I was originally considering getting a Corsa catback. After finding out more about them both I am leaning towards getting a Dynomouth mod. There is only one remaining thing I dont know, I know there is a hp boost from a Corsa catback but is there any sort of hp boost from a Dynomouth mod or is it basically a noise modification? And if it is just a noise modification shouldnt i just get a cutoff instead?

Find out what a Corsa muffler flows then have a seat while I tell you the muffler in the Dynomouth flows 2200+ cfm. (it couldn't be measured because the machine maxed out at 2200 cfm and the muffler was still flowing)
Now I don't know what the Corsa muffler flows, but here are some other common muffler flow #s: Borla #40600: 836 cfm DynoMax Ultra-Flo SS #17263: 1000 cfm DynoMax Ultra-Flo Welded #17219: 1133 cfm DynoMax Super Turbo #17733: 410 cfm Edelbrock #5511: 579 cfm Edelbrock 304 SS #5560: 640 cfm Flowmaster #42540: 352 cfm Flowmaster #62631: 435 cfm Flowmaster 50 Series: 362 cfm As for power, yes. I could feel a power increase as soon as it was done. Right now my car dynos 318 rwhp/334 ft lbs with just a lid, dynomouth, and some free mods. 98s are known for 280 rwhp stock... Anyway, this is just my opinion... I really like it and try to spread the word all I can. The makers of cat-backs have everyone brainwashed to think that they are a 'must have', and they charge through the nose for them. Dave ------------------ |
Thanks Ratio, I think that info has leaned me even more towards getting a Dynomouth setup instead of a Corsa catback. With that extra money I could get the headers I want... Speaking of headers, with long tube headers would a Dynomouth setup become obnoxiously louder? If so what would be suggested to lower the noise without losing the sound?

My '98Z (M6) also did 318/334 with a Lid and the B&B tri-flow. it did 292rwhp stock.
I'm going with the Corsa on my New T/A ------------------ Rick '65 Malibu SS - 280rwhp/330ftlbs '98 Camaro Z28 - 318rwhp/334ftlbs - Sold 7-18-02 '02 TransAm - Brand new No dyno Yet D-flo lid, GMS, Hotchkis STB, Hurst B+ Bat-CaveOnline [This message has been edited by Rickm (edited August 04, 2002).] |
