Dyno full exhaust

I was just wondering, If anyone on here installed LT's AND cats with bullet mufflers? IF so, how much did you gain rwhp? Note: I only want figures for full systems with cats.

Also, I read that JasonD only made about 17~18rwhp with his LT install. I thought LTs made like 20~25rwhp?

actually i think i remember him saying 16...could be wrong.

but once again, most people are using "butt-meters" not actual dyno results.

another thing to consider is that the manifolds on the 01/02 cars are better designed than the 98-00, so that could account for some of the difference.

what i find funny is how guys trash the shorties and mids saying they don't make the power...when in actuality they probably make a solid 10-12hp...and LTs only make 15-20.... i mean that isn't that much of a difference

I'll post my dyno number when mine are installed in about 2 1/2 weeks.

I made 10r whp with LTs over shorties w/o cats on my '01 and another 5 with MAFT tuning, for a total of 15 over the shorties ...

The shorties by themselves were good for about 5 rwhp and the removal of the cats about another 5 ...

Yeah I've always heard that the manifolds on LS1's aren't all that bad and If you want to see any measurable gains you had to at least go with midlengths. Just hearsay though

"removal of the cats about another 5 "

that's the important part. as far as i'm concerned comparing shorties alone (retaining cats) with longtubes (and orp) is pointless.

but you pretty much proved my point (may not have clearified it in my other post):
shorties with the associated orp, compared to LTs with the associated orp...are not THAT far off.

and i wouldn't include tuning in the equation of comparing gains from headers. that's kindda like comparing 2 similar cams, but one is tuned and the other isn't....of course the numbers are gonna be skewed towards the tuned one

It's 98-99 TES and 00-02 Cast manifold.

Over stock .. shorties with ORP + 10. ... LTs over the shorties +15 ... I would consider a 150% improvement significant.

And you have to include the tuning ... that extra 5 rwhp was unattainable with the shorties ... I couldn't improve on the stock tune with the shorties ... 12.8 AF/R ... I tried. I could lean it out, but the range of the MAFT was putting me out to 13.3 and I only gained 1 rwhp ... not enough to make worth while to run that lean ...

But with the LTS the AF/R went to 11.9 while gaining 10 rwhp. Tweaked the AF/R backed to 12.9 with a MAFT and picked up another 5 rhwp ...
