I know that's the smell of the cats but why would a car with only a little over 2000 miles smell? Two out of the last 3 times I've driven it and put it in the garage it's smelled. Is it just the cats breaking in?

More than likely just the cats and exhaust still breaking in (as you guessed) and a touch of richness. The occassional cat does go bad early, but I wouldn't be alarmed yet. A slight smell is normal.

But if it is very strong (ie. unbearable) then you may have a bad cat. If its that strong, you might need to have it looked at.

Batteries have a "rotten " smell to them to when the alternator is overcharging. You might want to have the charging system checked out...

Does it smell outside or inside the car? Mine had a distinctive smell inside, but only when I drove it at night. I had to literally sniff around while someone else drove it for me and I discovered it was the lamp in the ashtray. It seemed to be burning off a coating or something. I dimmed the dash lights (which also dims this bulb) and that has seemed to eliminate the problem. I have purchased other vehicles new, even Camaros, but have never had this problem before.

Sometimes there is a burnt like smell inside the car. The last couple times the car hasn't smelled outside like rotten eggs. The outside also sometimes smells burnt. The exhaust makes lots of crackling sounds when I shut the car off. I thought the burnt smell might be the clutch but it works and holds great. The rotten egg smell has only happened twice. I will check the ashtray light to see if that's the cause of the inside smell.
